Air Data Systems
The Sensor Systems Air Data product consists of a Dual Pressure Transducer arrangement which, with associated
electronics is housed in a metal case and encapsulated. The resulting assembly is extremely rugged, and highly resistant to vibration and shock
environments. Mounting provisions are integral to a solid metal base, and standard Military or commercial fittings and electrical connectors
are provided for highly flexible interface alternatives.
The actual measurement devices are integrated circuit silicon wafer strain gauges which present a change in resistance in response
to a change in applied pressure. The change in resistance is presented, as a change in voltage, to an Analog to Digital Converter. The Analog
to Digital Converter changes the pressure induced voltage signals into digital numbers which represent the applied pressure.
The digital representations of the applied pressures are converted, by a microprocessor, to their corresponding altitude and
airspeed equivalents. These are then applied to Digital to Analog converters, which convert them back into voltage signals.
System power, here a nominal 28 VDC, is converted, by means of an isolated DC-DC Converter to the +5 and +/-15 VDC required
by the internal circuitry, and also provides isolation from power induced noise and fluctuations.
